About Sarah

Since I can remember, my family called me “The Nose” for my innate ability to taste and smell everything.  As I grew older I took this skill into the wine and culinary world, working in 5 star restaurants, traveling the world and meeting the most incredible people and enjoying food from many different cultures. I learned to balance traveling and eating and drinking with cleansing my body while home by consuming juices and tons of organic vegetables, understanding that health is wealth. I also learned the importance of zero to low waste and cooking with what Mother Nature has made available to us seasonally. My favorite part was learning how to combine both worlds, where healthy doesn’t mean boring and tasteless!  And unless we are healing our body due to illness, we can be incredibly creative with eating mostly plants but following an 80/20 rule, leaving us a little room to indulge and not deprive ourselves from modern everyday culinary pleasures.

Growing up in the 90’s which I like to call the “Snackwell” era, where we were told our health relied on the USDA food pyramid; “fat is evil and calories are all the same and should be counted daily”! I suffered from eating disorders, depression and severe sugar addiction. Then, when I was 19 I had a health scare that changed my life.  I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Disease. Doctors back then never asked me anything about my diet, they just placed me on hormones and said I’d never become pregnant without in vitro fertilization. Upon graduating from college, I traveled to Europe where I witnessed the slow food movement seeing first hand how sustainable our food system should be and that we should be eating whole foods and know our farmers.  I became aware that perhaps my addiction to sugar and only consuming processed foods, creating a body that was deficient in vital nutrients, was the reason for my health challenges. These epiphanies also opened up an understanding how devastating this creation and consumption of factory food was affecting climate change. So I radically changed my diet, I started eating only organic foods, adding healthy fats and loads of vegetables to include all the colors of the rainbow, and my life changed forever.  The world became beautiful and full of hope and possibility and not only did my sugar addictions end, so did my constant battle with depression and weight and my hormones balanced to the point where I naturally became pregnant! This way of eating and living sustainably transformed my life into one of freedom, because the way I lived in the past was stifling and controlling.  Today the word “diet” to me is a four letter word, so allow me to show you how with just a little planning, you can transition that word out of your world too!

My life experiences have inspired me to share my story, experience and passion with the world!  In 2013, I became a Certified Health and Wellness Coach and in 2014 I opened up the first all organic cafes in Eastern PA! The cafes focused on sourcing locally, producing everything in house from our nut milks, dressings and fresh cold-pressed vegetable juice and offering the freshest most trustworthy food made with love you can find! I needed to end the cafe journey in 2021, but carried on my passion cooking for small events, health and wellness retreats, learning to grow my own food and health coaching. I finally have mustered up the courage to take this journey into the online world to touch more lives. Nothing excites me more than sourcing food directly from the earth and alchemizing this into pleasurable food that’s shared with others. It’s my pleasure and purpose to share my passion and experience taking all I’ve learned to the next level, so please I invite you to learn to cook and live sustainably with zero to low waste with me, please follow my journey as The Intuitive Green Chef!
